The Abantu Community Centre aims to provide a self-sustainable community centre that provides safe gathering spaces and assist in the development of local craftsmanship, educational needs and improve their overall well-being.

The Abantu Community Centre focuses on providing a space that is designed with the understanding of the local township, their primary needs, their social and cultural needs as well as to create potential job opportunities within the community. The centre will assist in skills development for all age groups and genders through craftsmanship workshops, basic computer and educational skills, career assistance, learn to swim lessons for the community as well as a multi-functional community hall for political rallies, dance or large social gatherings.

The Abantu Centre will be based on the concept of Ubuntu - “i am because you are” as well as the exploration of how homegrown traditions go hand in hand with modern technology.

The Walmer Country Club situated in Walmer, Port Elizabeth will be renovated and changed into the Abantu Community Centre.
