the final year project an interior design student at Nelson Mandela University.
For my Btech year we are required to create a design proposal that we will work on for the year. we were asked to identify a NEED in the local community. I am a born and bred Port Elizabeth girl so naturally i would select an area in port elizabeth to find an existing building to work with.

SELECTING A SITE TO FIT THE IDEA...
" i wanted the proposal to be one that would enrich and enhance over all the well being of the local community ".
Coming up with a creative idea that would benefit the community was the easy part. Finding a suitable site ... not so easy. throughout the past three weeks (since University started 5 February) i've been back anfd fouth with various different sites due to the dificulty obtaining plans and access into the buildings.
FINALLY A SITE AND AN IDEA !
The idea i have for my treatise proposal is a Community Centre.
I wanted my proposal to be one that would enrich and enhance the over all wellbeing of the local community.
- site i have chosen for the Community Centre is the Walmer
Country Club. this is a building that is close to my heart as
my late grandfather was a life long member at the Walmer Country club.
in my blog posts i will be taking you on a journy through my design process throughout the year.
i hope you enjoy it !
