three months till the final university portfolio day ever and it's come time to start putting all the years planning and ideas into visual formats.

after days of reshuffling positions of spaces within the interior the pottery workshop and retail space is in the existing squash courts. the render below is not one hundred percent finishes with all the bells and whistles but its a start for now.

visually seeing the space definitely helps with orientation, positioning and size of objects within the interior. it also helps to see where more details need to be added as well as COLOUR + TEXTURES.

for my past four years i am always drawn towards "safe" colours and finishes so naturally i tended to always go that route but for this particular project i really need to put myself out there and explore with colours and layering of textures.

a trip into the Walmer township on my way home might be a good idea to get inspired by the everyday colours and textures and patterns found within the community. At the end of the day my space is targeted towards the township community as well as having a sense of place whilst inhabiting the spaces of the Abantu Community Centre.
